Medication and Quarantine Protocol
QUARANTINE AND MEDICATION PROTOCOL
Aquarium Arts receives fish nearly every week into our system. We medicate after every large shipment or on regular intervals whichever comes first. Below you will find a list of medications and procedures that we use in our store to help us manage disease and keep our fish healthy. Dosage quantities and timing are proprietary to Aquarium Arts.
Medication and Proactive Procedures:
- PraziPro (Praziquantel used to treat flukes, internal parasites, tape worms and other “worm like” parasites.)
- Ridich Plus (Broadspectrum treatment for ich, uronema, marine velvet, minor bacteria)
- Cupramine (Ionic copper that is active against parasites at lower concentrations)
- Medicated food blend, Probiotic Blend
- Nitrofuracin Green as needed on individual fish (Broadspectrum antibiotics)
- Freshwater Dip on all fish on a regular weekly schedule and as needed in between.
Filtration: Aquarium Arts Saltwater System .
- Commercial Ozone Unit
- Commercial UV Sterilizer
- Commercial Protein SKimmer
- Commercial Biological Reactor
Salinity: We keep the salinity in our system at 1.018-1.019 specific gravity.
Prior to shipping fish, we make sure the fish are in good condition and have been eating in the days prior. Our staff is taught to only select fish for customers that they would take home themselves. If we are not comfortable to ship a fish, we will contact you ASAP.
*Although we take every precaution we can, Aquarium Arts does not guarantee that we have eradicated disease from our fish. This is because we receive fish weekly or biweekly. If you are someone who quarantines their fish, we recommend you follow the same procedures that you have had success with. However, we highly recommend that you use an appropriately sized quarantine tank and that you read our acclimation guidelines. We are not liable for fish that die in an unsuitable quarantine setup. *
*Due to the high demand from customers in our retail store, we do not hold fish for extra quarantine.*
