Albino Angelfish
Albino Angelfish
Albino Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)
Description:
The Albino Angelfish is a stunning freshwater fish known for its pale white coloration and translucent fins. Its graceful, triangular body and long, flowing fins make it a centerpiece in many aquariums. The albino strain lacks dark pigmentation, giving the fish its signature pale look with reddish eyes.
Size:
Up to 6 inches (15 cm) in height.
Aquarium Size:
A minimum of 30 gallons is recommended for a small group of Albino Angelfish. Taller tanks are ideal due to their height.
Water Parameters:
-
Temperature: 75°F to 82°F (24°C to 28°C)
-
pH: 6.5 to 7.5
-
Hardness: Soft to moderate
Temperament:
Albino Angelfish are generally community fish but can become semi-aggressive, especially during breeding. They should be kept in a calm community setup with similarly sized tankmates.
Group Size:
Best kept in groups of 4 to 6 individuals. Keeping them in groups reduces stress and encourages natural behaviors.
Compatibility:
Albino Angelfish can be kept with other peaceful fish such as tetras, rasboras, and corydoras catfish. Avoid fin-nipping species and overly aggressive tankmates. They can be kept with larger invertebrates like snails but may prey on small shrimp.
Diet:
Omnivorous. They thrive on a varied diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp.
Care Level:
Beginner to Intermediate. Proper tank maintenance and water quality are essential for their long-term health.
Planted Aquarium:
Albino Angelfish can be kept in a planted aquarium. Live plants help create a natural environment, reduce stress, and offer hiding spots.
Additional Notes:
Provide plenty of vertical swimming space and avoid overly strong water currents, as they prefer calmer waters. Breeding pairs may become aggressive toward tankmates.
