Description:
Behavior: The Annularis Angelfish, also known as the Blue Ring Angelfish or Blue King Angelfish, is a striking and regal species known for its relatively peaceful yet somewhat territorial nature. This angelfish tends to establish a specific territory within the aquarium and may show aggression towards other angelfish or similarly shaped fish.
Color: Annularis Angelfish are easily recognizable by their stunning coloration. Adults have an olive tan body adorned with electric blue rings and a distinctive white tail. Juveniles are equally captivating with dark blue bodies highlighted by white vertical stripes that gradually transform into the adult pattern as they mature.
Diet: Annularis Angelfish are omnivores with a preference for a varied diet. They thrive on a mix of high-quality angelfish preparations, marine algae, and meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feedings of sponges and tunicates will help mimic their natural diet and promote optimal health and coloration.
Tankmates: Annularis Angelfish can be housed with a variety of other marine species, including tangs, wrasses, and larger, non-aggressive fish. It is advisable to avoid keeping them with other large angelfish or overly aggressive species to prevent territorial disputes.
Reef Aquarium Compatibility: Annularis Angelfish are not reef-safe. They have been known to nip at soft corals, stony corals, and invertebrates, making them unsuitable for most reef aquariums. They are best kept in a fish-only setup.
Max Size: Annularis Angelfish can grow up to 12 inches (30 cm) in length. Due to their size and active nature, they require a spacious aquarium of at least 180 gallons to thrive and maintain good water quality.
Origin: Annularis Angelfish are commonly found in the Indo-Pacific region, with notable populations around the reefs of the Indian Ocean, including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and the Maldives.
Sexual Dimorphism: Annularis Angelfish do not exhibit significant sexual dimorphism, making it difficult to distinguish males from females based solely on appearance.
