McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri)

McCosker’s Flasher Wrasse is a vibrant and active reef-safe wrasse known for its dazzling display of colors and rapid, flashing movements during courtship. Males exhibit striking shades of red, orange, and electric blue, with elongated dorsal and anal fins that become more pronounced during displays. This species is an excellent addition to peaceful community aquariums and thrives in a well-established reef setting.

Size:
Grows to a maximum size of approximately 3 inches.

Aquarium Size:
A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended, with ample swimming space and rockwork for shelter.

Temperament:
Peaceful and well-suited for community aquariums. Keeping a single male with multiple females can encourage natural flashing displays.

Reef Compatibility:
This species is completely reef-safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates.

Diet:
McCosker’s Flasher Wrasse thrives on a varied diet that includes frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality marine pellets. Frequent small feedings are recommended to maintain health and coloration.

Tank Setup & Care:

• Requires plenty of open swimming space and live rock for hiding.

• A secure lid is necessary, as this species is prone to jumping.
