Description:

Their slender, silver body complements the shimmering blue highlight on the eyes, making them a popular choice for nano and planted aquariums.
Size:
Up to 1.5 inches (4 cm)
Aquarium Size:
A minimum of 10 gallons is recommended for a small school, with larger tanks preferred for better stability and schooling behavior.
Water Parameters:
-
Temperature: 72°F to 80°F (22°C to 27°C)
-
pH: 6.0 to 7.5
-

Temperament:
Norman's Lampeye Killifish are peaceful, schooling fish ideal for community aquariums. They thrive in calm environments and are best suited for tanks with non-aggressive tankmates.
Group Size:
Best kept in groups of 6 or more. Larger schools help reduce stress and encourage their natural schooling behavior while enhancing their glowing eye effect.
Compatibility:
Compatible with other peaceful species such as tetras, rasboras, pygmy corydoras, and small shrimp. Avoid housing with fin-nipping or overly active species that may outcompete them for food.
Diet:
Omnivorous. They thrive on a varied diet of high-quality micro pellets, flakes, and frozen or live foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro worms. Their small mouths require appropriately sized food.
Care Level:
Beginner to Intermediate. Norman's Lampeyes are hardy but prefer stable water conditions and gentle filtration.
Planted Aquarium:
Norman's Lampeye Killifish thrive in planted aquariums with soft lighting. Plants provide cover, reduce stress, and help bring out their natural colors.
Invertebrate Compatibility:
Safe with most peaceful invertebrates such as snails and larger shrimp. However, they may prey on very small shrimp fry.
Additional Notes:
Norman's Lampeyes prefer dim lighting and darker substrates, which help accentuate their glowing eyes. They are known for their top-dwelling habits, often swimming near the surface of the aquarium.
