How to get started

  1. Buy online for pickup or in store; we’ll help you pick a healthy betta.

  2. Place the tank on a level surface away from windows/vents.

  3. Rinse and add gravel; place plants to create hiding/resting spots.

  4. Fill with RO/DI water and add remineralizer as directed.

  5. Add Aquavitro Seed per label.

  6. Turn on filter and light; let it run a few hours or overnight.

  7. Float the betta cup/bag 15–20 minutes, then gently release fish.

The Nitrogen Cycle

  • Fish waste and food become ammonia (toxic).

  • Bacteria convert ammonia to nitrite (toxic).

  • Other bacteria convert nitrite to nitrate (less toxic).

  • You remove nitrate with water changes and filtration

    For the first 4–6 weeks:

    • Test ammonia, nitrite, nitrate 1–2 times per week.

    • Do not add additional fish if ammonia or nitrite is above 0.25 ppm.

    • Once ammonia and nitrite stay at 0 and only nitrate shows, the tank is cycled.

Easy Betta Care Tips

  • Feed 2–4 pellets once or twice a day.

  • Change 30–40% of the water weekly with remineralized RO/DI. (Only clean the filter once a month)

  • Run the light 6–8 hours per day, off at night.

  • No tankmates needed; this kit is designed for a single betta.
