The Fiji Pink Skunk Clownfish is a graceful and delicate-looking species, named for the distinctive white stripe—or "skunk" stripe—that runs from the tip of its snout along its back. Its body features a soft peach-pink hue with a white vertical bar just behind the eye, adding to its understated elegance. Native to the waters of Fiji and the Indo-Pacific, this clownfish is a peaceful addition to both reef and fish-only marine aquariums.
Care Requirements:
The Fiji Pink Skunk Clownfish thrives in aquariums of at least 20 gallons, with plenty of live rock for shelter and territory establishment. While it doesn’t require an anemone to thrive, it readily forms symbiotic relationships with anemones such as Heteractis crispa (Sebae Anemone) or Stichodactyla gigantea (Gigantic Carpet Anemone). Providing an anemone can encourage natural behaviors, but it will also host in soft corals if anemones are unavailable.
Diet:
An omnivore, the Fiji Pink Skunk Clownfish thrives on a varied diet of high-quality marine pellets, flakes, and frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Supplement its diet with spirulina or marine algae to enhance coloration and overall health.
Temperament:
Known for its peaceful nature, this clownfish is less aggressive compared to other species, making it ideal for community reef tanks. It can be kept singly, in mated pairs, or in small groups if housed in a sufficiently large aquarium. Its mild temperament makes it compatible with a wide range of tankmates.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef Safe. The Fiji Pink Skunk Clownfish poses no threat to corals or invertebrates, making it an excellent choice for reef aquariums. It may gently interact with soft corals if hosting behavior develops in the absence of an anemone.
Compatibility:
Compatible with other peaceful fish and invertebrates. It can be housed with other species of clownfish in large tanks, but avoid mixing with aggressive species that may outcompete or bully it. Best kept with similarly docile tankmates to prevent stress.
