The Resplendent Anthias is a breathtakingly colorful and active schooling fish, displaying a mix of orange, pink, and yellow hues with a shimmering iridescence. Males exhibit more intense coloration and elongated dorsal fins, while females maintain a slightly more subdued but equally beautiful appearance. This species thrives in groups and adds constant motion and vibrancy to a reef aquarium.
Size:
Grows to a maximum size of approximately 3 inches.
Aquarium Size:
A minimum tank size of 70 gallons is recommended, especially for groups, to allow ample swimming space.
Temperament:
Generally peaceful, this species does best when kept in a group with one male and multiple females. Males may become territorial if more than one is present in a smaller setup.
Reef Compatibility:
Completely reef-safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates.
Diet:
Resplendent Anthias require a diet rich in high-quality frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. They also benefit from small, frequent feedings throughout the day to maintain their energy levels.
Tank Setup & Care:
- Prefers an aquarium with open swimming areas and plenty of rock structures for shelter.
- Best kept in groups with a single dominant male and multiple females to encourage natural behavior.
- A secure lid is recommended, as anthias are known jumpers.
