Description:
The Silver X-Ray Pristella Tetra is a unique freshwater species known for its semi-transparent body, giving it the "X-ray" appearance. This tetra features a silvery body with a visible internal structure, along with striking yellow and black markings on its dorsal fin and a subtle red tint on the tail fin. Its peaceful temperament and striking appearance make it an excellent choice for community aquariums.

Size:
Up to 2 inches (5 cm)

Aquarium Size:
A minimum of 15 gallons is recommended for a small school, though larger tanks promote better schooling behavior and water stability.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72°F to 82°F (22°C to 28°C)

  • pH: 6.0 to 7.5

  • Hardness: Soft to moderate

Temperament:
Silver X-Ray Pristella Tetras are peaceful community fish that thrive in calm aquariums. They are highly social and display their best behavior when kept in proper schools.

Group Size:
Best kept in groups of 6 or more. Larger schools help reduce stress, encourage natural schooling behaviors, and enhance their visual impact.

Compatibility:
These tetras are ideal for peaceful community tanks and can be kept with species such as corydoras catfish, rasboras, guppies, and other tetras. Avoid keeping them with large or aggressive species that could intimidate them.

Diet:
Omnivorous. They thrive on a varied diet including high-quality flakes, micro pellets, and frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A varied diet helps maintain their health and vibrant colors.

Care Level:
Beginner. Silver X-Ray Pristella Tetras are hardy and adaptable, making them a great choice for novice aquarists.

Planted Aquarium:
Silver X-Ray Pristella Tetras thrive in planted aquariums. Live plants provide shelter, reduce stress, and create a visually appealing contrast to their translucent bodies.

Invertebrate Compatibility:
Safe with peaceful invertebrates such as snails and larger shrimp. However, very small shrimp fry may be at risk of predation.

Additional Notes:
These tetras do well in a variety of tank setups, including both blackwater and standard tropical aquariums. Their semi-transparent bodies make them a unique and eye-catching addition to the midwater region of the tank.
