The Tangerine Albino Clownfish is a rare and stunning variation of the classic Ocellaris Clownfish. With its bright orange body and lack of dark pigmentation, this designer clownfish stands out with a soft, luminous appearance. Hardy and easy to care for, the Tangerine Albino Clownfish is an excellent choice for marine aquarists looking for a unique and eye-catching addition to their aquarium.

Appearance: Unlike traditional Ocellaris Clownfish, the Tangerine Albino Clownfish features a bright, almost translucent orange body with crisp white bands. The absence of black pigmentation gives it a softer, glowing appearance, making it a standout in any saltwater setup. Its eyes also display a lighter hue, a signature trait of albino variations.

Behavior: Like other Ocellaris Clownfish, the Tangerine Albino is peaceful, social, and easygoing. They do well in pairs and may form symbiotic relationships with host anemones, though anemones are not required for them to thrive. Their playful swimming patterns and friendly nature make them a joy to observe in any aquarium setting.

Diet: Tangerine Albino Clownfish are omnivores and thrive on a varied diet. They readily accept high-quality marine pellets, flakes, and frozen foods such as mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. Providing a balanced diet will help maintain their vibrant coloration and overall health.

Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single Tangerine Albino Clownfish, though a larger tank is ideal for a pair or a community setup. They appreciate rock structures for hiding and exploring. Maintaining stable water parameters and regular water changes will ensure their health and longevity.

Tankmates: Tangerine Albino Clownfish are peaceful and can be housed with a wide variety of reef-safe fish such as gobies, wrasses, blennies, and certain species of tangs. They should not be housed with overly aggressive fish or other clownfish species in the same tank to prevent territorial disputes.

Reef Aquarium Compatibility: These fish are completely reef-safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates. Their small size and gentle nature make them ideal for reef tanks, where they add movement and personality without disturbing delicate reef inhabitants.

Max Size: Tangerine Albino Clownfish can grow up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) in length, making them a manageable and beautiful addition to small and large aquariums alike.

Origin: This designer variety is captive-bred, ensuring that they are disease-resistant, adaptable, and do not impact wild populations. Captive-bred clownfish are also more likely to readily accept prepared foods and adjust well to home aquariums.

Interesting Facts:

  • The lack of black pigmentation gives this clownfish its soft, tangerine-like glow.
  • Like all clownfish, they are protandrous hermaphrodites, meaning the dominant individual in a pair will become female over time.
  • Their hardy nature and peaceful temperament make them one of the best fish for beginner marine aquarists.
