The Triple Spot Wrasse is a hardy and active reef-safe wrasse known for its striking coloration and energetic swimming patterns. Its elongated body is adorned with a mix of green, yellow, and blue hues, along with three distinct black spots along its dorsal area, making it an eye-catching addition to marine aquariums. This species is an excellent choice for pest control, as it actively hunts small invertebrates such as bristle worms and flatworms.
Size:
Grows to a maximum size of approximately 5 inches.
Aquarium Size:
A minimum tank size of 50 gallons is recommended to provide enough space for swimming and natural foraging behavior.
Temperament:
Generally peaceful, but can be semi-aggressive toward smaller, more timid tankmates. It should not be housed with overly aggressive fish, as it may become stressed.
Reef Compatibility:
This species is considered reef-safe but may prey on small ornamental shrimp and other tiny invertebrates. It will not harm corals, making it a good choice for most reef setups.
Diet:
Requires a varied diet consisting of frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality marine pellets. It will also help control pests by consuming small invertebrates in the aquarium.
Tank Setup & Care:
-
Requires a fine sand bed, as it buries itself at night for protection.
-
Provide plenty of rockwork and hiding places.
