The White Sleeper Goby, also known as the Sixspot Sleeper Goby, is a peaceful sand-sifting species that plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and well-aerated substrate. It has a pale white body with faint yellowish markings and distinctive blue spots along its head, making it a subtle but elegant addition to any saltwater aquarium.
Size:
Grows up to approximately 6 inches in length.
Aquarium Size:
A minimum tank size of 40 gallons is recommended to provide sufficient space for natural foraging behaviors.
Temperament:
Generally peaceful, the White Sleeper Goby coexists well with most tankmates. However, it may become territorial toward other gobies, especially those with a similar body shape.
Reef Compatibility:
This species is considered reef-safe as it does not harm corals or invertebrates. However, its constant sand-sifting may cause temporary cloudiness in fine sand aquariums.
Diet:
Primarily feeds by sifting sand for tiny organisms but should also be provided with a varied diet of frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality sinking pellets.
Tank Setup & Care:
-
Requires a sandy substrate for natural feeding and burrowing.
-
Prefers a tank with rock structures for shelter.
-
Best kept as a single specimen or a bonded pair unless housed in a large aquarium.
